5 Ways to Convert Your Home to an Eco-Friendly Oasis

We all are aware of the slogan “Save Our Earth”. There are many environmental problems such as pollution, global warming, waste disposal, climate change and so on.  Because of these issues, our environments are changing and not always for the best.  Whether we believe in global warming or not, there is no doubt that our planet has seen some drastic changes in climate causing negative effects in the food chain supply and the way we live.  Before saving the world, there are a few small things we can do to take initiative and do our part.

To make your home to an Eco-friendly oasis you need not take big steps, just take small steps and contributes towards the safety of our mother earth.   There are many ways through which you can turn your home Eco-friendly but here I would like to share 5 best ways to convert your home to an Eco-friendly oasis.

  1. Reduce Energy consumption- Review your electricity bill frequently and make necessary changes to your energy consumption.  Replace from bulb or tube lights to CFL and LED bulbs which saves energy and environment, and last much longer. If it’s not necessary, then don’t turn the lights on in daylight instead let sunlight come into your house.
    Low Energy Stove

    2. Use low energy appliances- Electrical appliances can consume more energy. Mostly used appliances such as refrigerator, air conditioner, washing machines, dishwashers have been converted into energy efficient appliances. Opt for these appliances for energy saving3.

Produce from Vegetable Garden

3.  Nurture a Garden- Grow your own vegetables and herbs in your kitchen garden. A kitchen garden has many benefits such as providing fresh vegetables and decreasing exposure to pesticides will lower pollution and soil erosion. Make use of kitchen leftovers like eggshells, fruits, and vegetable skin for natural fertilizer.

Recycle

4.  Recycle- Avoid buying items which cannot be recycled. Don’t forget to recycle your stuff which is available in your house like glass, metals, paper and cardboard, and containers.

Conserve Water

5. Save and preserve water- Always turn the tap off when you’re not using water. Leaving the tap on is not only you’re wasting them but also it will increase the demand for water. You can also preserve rainwater. Install a rainwater harvesting system which will collect the water from the roof and preserve it in the tank.
